This award was established in 1975. The first presentation of the Mary MacDonald Distinguished Service Award was made in 1976, to Mary MacDonald, for whom the award is named. The purpose of the Award is to honor those members of the American Physical Therapy Association of Massachusetts, past and present, who have significantly helped to advance the profession of physical therapy and who has selflessly provided distinguished service to the APTA of MA, and to their community. It is to be awarded whenever the APTA of MA’s Board of Directors feels an appropriate individual should be so honored.
This award was established in 2003 to honor the memory of Richard Kessler. Richard Kessler was the owner of Kessler Therapy Equipment who unselfishly assisted many physical therapists in starting their practices by extending credit and customer service that was not the norm. This award honors an individual physical therapist who has given of themselves to society without thought of personal or professional gain. The purpose of this award is to recognize a physical therapist with those qualities Richard Kessler displayed in a professional and friendly manner. First, his persona exemplified dignity and a loyalty to physical therapy. Secondly, his persona exemplified compassion and generosity with sensitivity to the needs of others. These qualities were the hallmark of the career of Richard Kessler.
The purpose of this award is to give public recognition to APTA of MA physical therapists and physical therapist assistant members who are outstanding clinicians, and who have make significant contributions to the profession of physical therapy through the implementation and reporting of quality research.
The purpose of this award is to give public recognition to APTA of MA’s physical therapist and physical therapist assistant members who are outstanding clinicians, dedicated to their patients, their professions, and to sharing their knowledge with others. It is to be awarded whenever the APTA of MA Board of Directors believes an appropriate individual should be so honored.
Ruth P. Hall had dedicated her career to the profession of Physical Therapy. Ms. Hall’s educational concerns, devotion to quality patient care, high standards of ethical practice and her genuine love of humanity, has benefited generations of physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students throughout the years.
The award is designed to recognize a physical therapy and physical therapist assistant student who demonstrate the professional qualities of dedication and caring which exemplified the physical therapy career of Ruth Hall.
The Haley Cremer Foundation was founded in 2015 in loving memory of an outgoing, enthusiastic, and compassionate individual. At the time of her death, Haley was preparing to enter her junior year at Simmons College to continue her studies toward a degree in physical therapy. She is remembered by all that knew her as someone who cared deeply for others. The Haley Cremer Foundation will honor Haley’s memory by striving to do the same. Financial assistance will be awarded to aspiring physical therapists and associated rehabilitation professionals, medical research organizations, as well as programs dedicated to heal, grow and strengthen families facing profound challenges due to serious illness, trauma or death.
