President Message and Strategic Plan Update

Hello and welcome to our new website!

I am so excited to see this come to life after many hours of work. As this new build is part of our current strategic plan to improve our communication and support a deeper level of member engagement, I wanted to take a moment to provide a high level overview of our entire APTA MA 2024 Strategic Plan and our progress.

You can review our entire strategic plan below, but a few highlights:

  • APTA MA continues to find ways to collaborate outside of physical therapy. Some examples of this include:
    • A recent op-ed written to support Bill S.659, expanding the coverage for non-pharmacologic approaches to pain management
    • Participation in the Boston Pride Festival and Parade to educate attendees on the importance of pelvic care for all
    • Voicing and writing support for several other bills outside of physical therapy, including H4096, An Act to improve outcomes for persons with limb loss and limb difference.
  • Our connection to our communities continues to be a strength of the chapter. Several other community events have occurred in 2024, including recent involvement in the HDSA Team Hope Walk, where APTA volunteers helped with set up, a warm up run and answering questions about Physical Therapy
  • SIGs continue to put on stellar educational programming – please review our events calendar for upcoming educational content!
  • Lastly, our bylaws taskforce is full steam ahead! Please read their full update for more information.

It’s going to be a busy 2024 and we are looking for more passionate individuals willing to step up to tasks – both big and small!

If you are looking to get more involved or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

President, APTA Massachusetts
